Why is it important to wash new clothes, beddings before first use? is it a health risk?

i've always been unfortunate in that i 'ruin' clothes when i wash them ( i'm bad at following wash instructions) and i tend to not want to wash new clothes until absolutely necessary (obviously after wearing them a couple of times). am i risking my health? Why is it important to wash new clothes, beddings before first use? is it a health risk?
Probably not. For the most part you wash them to remove any chemicals from processing the garments. If you start to have a reaction on your skin then I would be concerned.

I am much more likely to wash bedding before using than I am clothes. I think it's important to wash bedding before use.

When in doubt use cool water with your clothes and gentle or knit cycle. Use medium heat instead of hot for clothes when drying and try to get the tshirts out of the dryer when they are just barely damp and almost dry this way they will wrinkle less and you can hang them up right away.

You can always rinse new clothes in the sink with cool water and drip dry in the bathroom before using to remove any chemicals in the material but not put it through a full wash in the machine.

Also remember dark clothes with dark clothes. Darks wash in cool water and whites and lights in meduim water. Wash your sheets and towels seperately from your clothes. Always wash sheets in hot water to kill dust mites, bacteria, etc.

I also like to wash jeans and heavy materials together instead of with my knits. Why is it important to wash new clothes, beddings before first use? is it a health risk?
Not really risking your health, unless you're allergy prone. There are still dyes, starches and fixatives in new clothes and bedding that can irritate your skin.

It's not hard to wash most things... or why not try a dry cleaner?
