What is the proper way to wash white clothes?

i need step-by-step instructions. Evertime i wash them, they come out all....';unwhite'; and just look no as bright as the should. What is the proper way to wash white clothes?
Too much bleach will yellow them over time.

Dry cleaning often will gray over time.

Don't mix with anything that's not white- especially red or blue!

Wash with HOT water.

Use a little bleach in the rinse cycle if your washer doesn't have a specific place to pour in bleach.

Use the extra rinse if it's an option, or just re-rinse it.What is the proper way to wash white clothes?
i pre wash mine , then i wash them in hot water, i use borax as well as bleach and my laundry detergent , borax works really really well !
Use warm water, add a cup of bleach to the water, add soap to the water, add clothes.

You can also trying using Rit.

Fill up washer up 1/2 way with Warm water. Then add about 1/4 cup of bleech to a 1 cup measureing cup, and mix well ( I use a wooden spoon) .....dump that in, and finish adding warm water to top........or just close the lid.

WAIT.

When it shuts off, I add about 1 cup of Downey Softener, and turn dial around to Rinse Cycle....and let it re-rinse clothes again. This takes out any un-wanted soap, and makes the whites smell wonderful too!!!!

This is not difficult.

Its time consuming, and you should be ok.

Good Luck.
My method:

1. Spray stains with stain stick and dip into oxyclean (about $3-$4) which is a non-clorine bleach. For deep stains, soak the stain in cold water for a few minutes with a bit of the oxyclean.

2. Add detergent and softner in proper dispensers (if given). If not, then toss in just the detergent first. You can add the softner during the final rinse cycle.

3. Toss in whites

4. Set water temperature. Most of the time, cold water works for me.

5. Start washer.

Other alternatives to oxyclean:

Baking Soda

Borax Washing Soda

Lemon Juice (on certain stains)

-All of these are safe alternatives for the environment and are cheap to get.
