Is there any danger of washing mechanics clothing in washing machine?

my stepson works in a garage as an apprentice he gets filthy oil etc is there any danger for us using a normal washing machine to wash is uniform or should it be sent away to be washedIs there any danger of washing mechanics clothing in washing machine?
You may have to check your filter more often and also the risk of some of the oil and grease getting onto the other clothes even if you wash separate as it could stick to the drum, I personally would not recommend it, and anyway doesn't the garage send them away to professional cleaners most firms do so I would check it out first,Is there any danger of washing mechanics clothing in washing machine?
If his job offers laundry service, I would go that route, but otherwise you should be okay using a good detergent that will get as much of the oil and grease as possible out of the clothes. Running them through two complete wash cycles might help.

My husband has worked maintenance in food plants for 25 years. Most of the oil and grease he gets into is food grade, but I still wash his uniforms in hot water and if they are very dirty I wash them twice before putting them in the dryer. Using hot water seems to help loosen some of the grease and grime and doesn't seem to effect the fabric at all.
Danger of shrinkage.
hi there

my father has been in the motor trade for over 20yrs we've never had any problems with washing his clothes.

No it should be fine. But make sure he takes them off first (mechanics have a bit of a reputation for being a bit stupid).
None what so ever, but make sure you check pockets very carefully. Use bio washing powder and the hottest setting of your machine if the clothing can stand it.
No I don't think so - my stepson also worked in a garage over the summer and the machine seems none the worse for dealing with his overalls. Go for it.
yes theres a danger, if he's still in them.
No, no danger in washing dirty oily clothes in the washer, just add one cup of White Vinegar in the washer and wash on the hottest water clothes can handle full cycle without detergent the vinegar will get the clothes clean and soft without fabric softner even odor free and will also disinfect and sanitize anything washed in vinegar, when drying in the dryer do not add any dryer softner sheets as vinegar softens clothes and leaves them static and lint free Good Luck !
Make sure his pockets are empty.
Absolutly no risk to the washing machine or other clothes but best not to putother clothing in with them
How to make points with your stepson: Wash his workclothes in the machine, use a good detergent like TIDE, dry and fold them. Sending them out sends a message to him that you don't want him around. Use your head.
