For darks you want to wash them in cold and wash your clothes, especially pants inside out.How should i wash my clothes so my dark colors dont fade away?
cold water, and not washing them as much as other clothes also cheer soap has a new brand out for dark clothes only
Vinegar or a cup of table salt added to the rinse water ';sets'; the dye and keeps them from bleeding on to other garments. Several detergent manufacturers also make formulations for dark colors, but vinegar works just as well and is much cheaper. If you add the vinegar the first time you launder it and every now and again thereafter your darks will stay looking like they did the day you bought them.
It's not so much the washing. Buy color fast clothes and use no bleach except on white things. Cheap clothes generally are not color fast.
Washing Colors Without Bleeding

To set colors in colored items, soak them for an hour in a mix of 1/2 cup vinegar, 1/2 tablespoon of salt, and 1/2 gallon of water. If the rinse water shows color after an hour, repeat the process. Use this technique only for single-colored items, because multi-colored items may bleed into each other. Multicolored items will likely need to be dry-cleaned.:)
If you turn your clothes inside out before popping them in the machine to be washed , this will help keep the color, also if your are hanging your clothes outside in the sun, Make sure you turn them inside out as the sun will bleach the color out of them. The sun is great for bleaching your whites whiter than white, also for bleaching stains from your clothes, the natural way
I was always told to use Woolite on darks as it keeps the coloured clothes their brightest.
Wash dark colors in cold water and use a laundry detergent especially formulated for dark colors and/or cold water. There are several ';no fade'; detergents on the market right now. Woolite is always good for colors and delicate fabrics.

Dark colors will always fade a little bit in the wash no matter what detergent you use, it's just a fact of laundry.
